FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions

We know what you’re thinking. Another boring FAQ page. One where they only answer the questions that benefit the company. e.g. “How can I work with you?” and “why are you so amazing?”

Yawn.

We like to do things differently. This isn’t your typical FAQ page. This is the type of FAQ where we discuss the REAL concerns you have. You’ll be able to find answers to questions that you genuinely want to know.

If you have any questions you’d like us to answer that aren’t already covered, please ask us here.

website faqs

It really depends on what kind of website you need and the functionality. A portfolio / brochure website costs less than a full eCommerce website.

The process we use to build your website takes a certain amount of time and a lot of planning and research. You get a unique design tailored around your business. Buying a website from us should not just simply be seen as a business expense as your website is a sales tool that should earn you money.

Yep. We’ve also been asked that question too. We spend a lot of time researching, planning the user’s journey through your site and then finally with the design and build. We’re typically cheaper than larger agencies because…

  1. We work remotely which means you don’t pay for the water cooler or beanbag chairs.
  2. We’re a small team who take on a limited amount of clients each year. You won’t be talking to account managers, you’ll talk directly to the owner, a.k.a Meg. This saves on staff costs.

Again, This depends on the functionality you requite. Typically, it takes approximately 6-10 weeks to build a website from start to finish, providing we have all the information from you. Generally speaking, the website will only take a long time if we are still waiting for text and images from yourself.

Before we begin working together, we’ll usually have an initially chat on the phone or via Zoom to discuss the project. Once we get started, most of the communication will take place over email.

This makes the process a lot easier as we’ll have all of the information saved and can come back to it later. Once we’ve finished the project, we will book in your 1hr digital marketing training session.

It really depends on what type of website you want. We’ll be able to discuss this on our discovery call before we start working together. Depending on which package we agree on we could need…

  • Images of you and your team
  • Images of your workplace
  • Content for the website e.g. text, PDFs etc
  • Staff Profiles
  • Any Videos you would like adding to the website
  • Login details to your existing website

Some of this might already be on the existing website, in which case it can be transferred over to the new site.

Yes, we split the payment into two. The first 50% is usually taken once you have seen the mockup of your homepage and you’re happy to move forward. The following 50% is taken 30 days after this.

No. In the past we have found that projects can take a lot longer than expected to complete. We might be waiting for information from you and this can delay the process. Sometimes these delays can take months. This is why we always invoice 30 days after the original payment. At this point we’ll be well on our way with your new website and you’ll be able to see the progress.

If we build your website, we will generally manage the hosting for you so you don’t need to do anything. We use the same hosting company for our own website and for ALL our clients. Each website is managed individually to avoid any security issues. Every website we build has unlimited bandwidth, 20GB of disk space, 2GB Ram and 99.9% uptime. We’ve used the same company for 5 years and we don’t plan on changing this anytime soon.

Yes, we can arrange a maintenance package to suit your needs. This can range from 1hr per month to 10 hours per month and we can discuss a package that’s right for you.

Yes. We like to offer the ability for our clients to update the website themselves. We we’ll give you all the training and tools to be able to make website amendments. We use a easy to use platform called WordPress so you can add edit and delete content without paying us to do it for you.

When we design your website, we’ll build in all the features you want, including an email sign-up form. As we design all our websites from scratch, we’ll make sure it fits in with your website style and branding.

What you will need is an email marketing platform such as Aweber, Mailchimp or Convert Kit. As you’re collecting customer’s private data it’s best to invest in a secure and reliable third party service, such as these. We can set this up for you, however, these services do charge as well. For example, Aweber charges approximately $20.00 per month.

Yes you can, we use WordPress to build your website which means you can make changes yourself without knowing how to code. We will also teach you how to use it with a series of helpful videos.

You can have an unlimited amount of pages on your website.

We will usually design you 3 pages layouts i.e. A homepage, a blog page an inner page e.g. your about page. You can then use whichever layout you want for each new page you want to add.

It depends on the package you choose. We are happy to write the text for your website if you would like.

We will ask you a series of questions before we begin, then we will research your market and suggest a series of pages for your website. We’ll learn as much as we need to know to create compelling words that inspire people to get in touch.

We design your website from scratch using a number of tools. We use photoshop for the first stage of the design and then move it onto the website using a platform known as WordPress.

We prefer to use WordPress to build websites.

We can help you with your Squarespace, Wix, ShowIt & Weebly Websites.

However, we have found that WordPress is a platform that’s easily accessible for our clients to update themselves, it’s search engine friendly and it’s easy to integrate with third party companies.

If you already have a website. That’s great. This means we can build your new website whilst your other website is still live. Once we are ready to go live and you are happy with the new site we can then swap the old site for the new one. It can take as little as 10 minutes for the new website to be visible. This means you’ll barely even notice a dip in your traffic numbers

Yes. Your website will be fully responsive and will look great on all devices. We don’t charge extra for this. It comes as standard.

It depends. There’s no clear answer to this question as search engines change their requirements all the time. However, we have had clients get to the first page for their main keywords within 2 days of launching and we’ve had websites take 2–3 months for Google to show them on the first page.

However, there is no guarantee you will ever get to the first page of Google for your main keywords, some of your competitors might have huge marketing budgets or have been there for years.

No. If you have more customers than you can handle and don’t want anymore then you might not need a website.

However if you want to expand the business, get more enquiries or become the go to person in your space then you should have a website.

No. Websites like Facebook, Amazon and Twitter are not like standard websites. They require hundreds or thousands of hours of work just to get the website launched. Not to mention that you’ll need a team of developers on hand 24 hours a day to keep the website running smoothly.

Yes. We will purchase the images for your website. We use stock image websites such as Depositphotos, Shutterstock and 123rf to buy professional images so that you don’t have to pay a photographer.

Yes. Hosting is like renting space on the internet. You’ll need to buy hosting otherwise people won’t be able to access your website.

Prices can vary depending on your requirements. Hosting prices usually increase the more website visitors you have.

If we build your website, we will usually host it for you and you don’t need to do anything. We pay the hosting fee for the first year and we’ll send you an invoice once a year thereafter. Alternatively, you can host the website elsewhere and manage it yourself. It’s completely up to you.

Of course. You’re buying a website from us. It’s the least we can do. As long as it’s available for purchase, we’ll buy it for you and pay for the first year. We’ll send you an annual invoice for the renewal along with the hosting fees.

Obviously, if the domain name costs more than the average of €10-€30, then we’d have to discuss this with you!

You will own the domain. We will register the domain in your name and address and it belongs to you. This means you have ultimate control over it.

It depends which package you choose. SEO is usually an ongoing commitment and will require continuous work. However, we do offer a package that will start you off on the right foot.

our most popular website plan includes basic on-page SEO for 10 pages. This means we’ll perform keyword research and optimise it for search engines.

It can vary dramatically but our monthly SEO plans begin at €450+VAT per month. This is generally a starter plan for a local business with a moderate amount of competition.

Some of our other clients pay over €1000+VAT per month for our SEO services. It really depends on how much work will be required and how much competition you have in your industry.

Yes. Content marketing is a strategic marketing approach focused on producing valuable, relevant, and consistent content. Optimizing your content for SEO will allow for you to attract an audience and drive profitable customer action.

We track your rankings using our reliable software. We get updates everyday and we’ll be able to see what’s working and what isn’t. We’ll send you a monthly report so you can see your traffic numbers and rankings.

There is no set answer to this question due to the multiple factors involved, including your industry, how well your website is already performing, how much and how often content is produced, and many more elements.

No. We only work with business owners who we can TRULY help. We’re not the type of company who work with anyone and everyone just to make money. We need to be confident that we are the right fit for one another. This is why we have a free discovery session at the start of the process.

Most of our clients are not based in Donegal.

Although our HQ is, we serve clients and business owners all over Ireland, the UK and we also have many international customers including USA, Switzerland, Canada and even Australia.

The type of business we run means we can work with any business anywhere in the world.

No. All of our client meetings are done over Zoom or via the phone. It’s rare that we NEED to meet people face to face. Technology allows us to do so much in a small space of time so we don’t believe face to face meetings are necessary.

We are always happy to meet you in person if you really need us to but we’ll arrange a consultation price for travel and possible accommodation depending on the distance.

We are always looking for ways to make your life easier. If you’d like us to do this for you, we can arrange a package that suits you.

Logo Design FAQs

The turnaround time for a logo from sales to completion is typically 2-3 weeks, subject to my workload which will be discussed before any payments are made. Timescales are also dependent on response time, and any additional changes to designs.

Short answer – possibly. Each project timeline has been thoughtfully created to give us enough time to do our research, for me to draft your design, and for us to go through the refinement rounds. However, there are some circumstances in which your project may be able to be turned around quickly if the situation allows. If you need a rush project, please let me know well in advance so I can create a custom quote based on your requirements and a rush fee may be added depending on the deadline and complexity of the project.

Following the design phase, you will be presented with 3-5 logo options based upon agreed objectives. Once final payment has been made, you will own the copyright to the final agreed design.

That’s no problem at all.

When the first set of designs are presented to you I will explain why design decisions have been made. At this point you will have the opportunity to provide feedback and request modifications if required.

You can request as many changes as you want, however up to 4 revision rounds are included within the typical project scope. In the unlikely event that additional revisions are required beyond this, they will be charged at a cost of €40 per revision round, and will be added onto the final invoice.

On completion of the logo design project, and once payment has been made, the copyright for the final agreed logo is automatically transferred to you. If needed we can also provide a copyright transfer document to give comfort that the copyright has been transferred.

Copyright protection means that the copyright holder of the work retains exclusive rights to print, display and distribute the design. This is what’s transferred to you, and means you can do anything you want with the logo. We only ask that we can include the logo in my portfolio as an example of work carried out.

Trademark registration on the other hand is something that will need to be carried out by a trademark attorney.  If this is something you plan to do we can refer you to a company that we frequently use and can recommend.

We’ll jump on a call, and we’ll work together to establish what’s not working, why, and we’ll work out a direction so we can proceed with the project.

It’s worth noting that the designs presented to you will be based on goals agreed with you before the design phase begins. This will include information about your business, competition and target audience. It will also include any specific requirements or expectations you may have, so this is an unlikely scenario.

We focus my design decisions on goals, which we will explain when presenting the designs. This will mean we have considered your business, target audience and competition. As a logo is a strategic tool it doesn’t need to be liked by you personally, but should instead perform for your business, and this is something we will discuss with you.

We will cooperate with you to throughout the project to ensure the design achieves all goals agreed upon, which will include any specific requests made before starting the designs.

It’s unlikely to happen, however, if after attempts to find an ample solution you still dislike the designs presented to you, you don’t need to make full payment. Before starting the project we take 50% deposit which is non refundable, but if you don’t like the work done for you, you don’t need to pay the final 50%. But we will retain ownership of all designs, ideas and work carried out during the process.

Once your logo design is completed I will supply a comprehensive kit of files to allow the use of the logo across various mediums. Below is a summary of what we will provide:

CMYK version – Full colour printing is made up of only 4 colours: Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black. These 4 colours mix together to build up any images you can imagine. You will need this format when you require printed material that displays full colour images on the same page. Provided in Vector (Ai/PDF/EPS) format.

Pure black version – Like it says, this version is pure black version of your logo. This is ideal for black and white, or single colour documents. Provided in Vector (Ai/PDF/EPS) format.

Pure white knockout – Want to use your logo over a dark photo, or on a solid dark colour? A white version solves colour and visibility issues to give the best result. Provided in Vector (Ai/PDF/EPS) format.

RGB version – Unlike print colours, screen colours are made up of Red, Green and Blue, mixing the light of each colour to make up the full colour spectrum. Your logo will be provided as an optimised Jpeg file format, and transparent PNG, as well as SVG, which is a vector version for digital use.

Favicon – A 32 x 32 favicon of your logo will be created for use on your website.

Copyright Ownership – I will transfer copyright ownership of the final agreed logo.

A PDF User Guideline Document – A document explaining how to use the logo files.
